Nike Air Pippen

Whether you rep “Flax” or “Wheat,” the tan look is always a great choice. Frankly, there are very few colorways that are as widely beloved. Knowing this, Nike has continued to cruise through release after release of Wheat goodness. Some of the most iconic models in the Swoosh catalog have gotten the tan treatment, making for almost entirely different shoe each time. This time around, it looks another underrated model is adopting the look. The Nike Air Pippen 1 Wheat is going all boot-look on us, gracefully decked out in a seasonal hue.

This pair has Timberland vibes so heavy that you might want to throw on a parka. The upper’s main color is in Desert Ochre. The palette choice really helps the leather panels and stitch details come to new life. Much like the Air Max 95, the Air Pippen 1 has always been conducive to extra texture. Those wavy lateral grooves add an extra bit of flash and spark to just about any color scheme. Desert Ochre, it seems, is no exception. The only thing prettier than that might be that off-white midsole which really makes this shoe look like it was dipped in a latte. Delicious!

The Pippen hasn’t always gotten its fair share of consumer love. After all, it’s one of the foremost symbols of a bygone era in sneaker design. Basketball shoes are far removed from the bulk and leather builds of the 1990s, back when Scottie was putting the clamps on anyone brave enough to face the Chicago Bulls. Much like the Air More Uptempo, this monstrous sneaker made sense when you consider its task of supporting one of the most gifted defenders in NBA history. It’s always nice to see the signature line get some more love.

Out on January 26th, make sure you don’t sleep on these low-key gems!
