The future of automotive.

It's no secret that we are very passionate about cars here at Fuel so it should come as no surprise that we are very pumped up about this next news. At this year's CES tech event BMW presented a car that changes color with a press of a button! Specifically, the BMW iX Flow is equipped on its surface with millions of microcapsules, which are called E Ink Panels, that are as wide as human hair. Each one of these microcapsules is filled with negatively-charged white pigments and positively-charged black pigments. Stimulating these capsules with electricity will prompt the chosen color ink to move to the surface of the capsule, becoming visible from the outside. According to the manufacturer, this technology is energy efficient since there is no energy required to maintain the state of the chosen color. Current only flows during the short color-changing phase. This innovative technology offers unprecedented potential for personalization in the area of exterior design. Technology's rapid advancements and innovations like this make us wonder: how long are we from driving a fully functional flying car, like the ones we marveled in Blade Runner and Back to the Future Part II?
